![]() {tit}{cp}The VZ V6 Commodores are renowned for defective timing chains. That dreaded rattle at idle or a random check engine light could be the tell-tale signs that the factory chains have stretched. Prolonging the replacement of these chains could potentially lead to severe engine damage including bent valves, damaged pistons or worst case, an engine replacement. Here at Mace Engineering we're dedicated to providing exceptional service and quality parts, therefore we have used our sought after engineering expertise to develop a kit using components of high calibre. This way we can ensure our customers are receiving the most reliable timing chain kit on the market. Our aftermarket chains possess enhanced durability and strength characteristics to comfortably take the shock loading of everyday driving while our superior guides and tensioners firmly hold them in place. As such, these kits are backed up by an industry leading 3 year/100,000km product warranty for kits with gears. A 12 month product warranty applies to kits without gears. Contents:
VEHICLE FITMENT GUIDE There may be a discrepancy for vehicles built on dates that borderline the change-over of the design of the timing chain. We cannot guarantee what kit you require if this applies to your vehicle. You can confirm by removing one of the cam covers and inspecting the chains that run over the cam gears. We also sell most V6 Alloytec and SIDI related gaskets and replacement parts. These are available in other listings. Here is a list of some of the more popular ones:
Kindly note: If you plan on replacing the lower timing chain guide, we recommend replacing the oil pump which includes a replacement guide already assembled to the pump. We have found with previous customer setups that the lower oil pump guide included in our kit is not always compatible. If this is the case, then the factory guide can be left in place or the oil pump can be replaced with one of ours. Caution: Once assembled, the timing chain tensioners need to be fully released to maintain adequate tension. Simply pulling the pins is not enough. All tensioners must be pressed in by hand for the internal mechanism to fully pop out and operate effectively. Following this, the motor is to be rotated by hand one full revolution in a clockwise direction to ensure all parts have been fitted correctly. Failing to follow these steps will result in a noisy timing chain upon start up and will require the motor to be disassembled again to access the tensioners. Note: If you require a timing chain kit without gears (TC603), you can find it in our other listings. Audi S1 & S1 Sportback revealed with 228bhp (+video)
Wed, 12 Feb 2014The Audi S1 has been revealed (S1 Sportback pictured) Audi has been threatening a quattro driven A 1 as a full production model ever since the limited edition A1 Quattro arrived two years ago with 252bhp and a very big price tag. An now we get it. The new Audi S1 has been revealed ahead of a debut at the Geneva Motor Show next month, and it gets quattro 4WD just like the A1 Quattro, even if it has to make do with less power – the S1 delivers 228bhp and 237lb/ft of torque from its 2.0 litre turbo – that’s less bhp but more torque than the A1 quattro managed.
December debut for Bentley GT3 racer
Tue, 01 Oct 2013THE CONTINENTAL GT3 racing car will make its competitive debut at December’s Gulf 12 Hours race in Abu Dhabi, it has been confirmed. The 600bhp, twin-turbo V8 racer is the first Bentley model to hit the race track since 2003, when the Crewe-based outfit won the 24 Hours of Le Mans. This time Bentley will, officially at least, only use the two-part endurance race as a test to gauge the performance of the Continental GT3 ahead of a full entry into the 2014 FIA Blancpain GT3 racing championship.
Problems with your McLaren MP4-12C? Have a ‘McLaren: The Wins’ coffee table book
Thu, 20 Oct 2011Ron Dennis apologises to McLaren MP4-12C owners A couple of weeks ago we reported that McLaren was having some teething problems with their new MP4-12C but weren’t, despite reports to the contrary, halting production. The problems seemed to be mainly software related, with issues including warning lights flashing on and battery drainage issues, which seemed to be because the MP4-12C’s electronics didn’t turn off when the car was halted. But it seemed McLaren were working on the issues with the same sort of zeal we’ve come to recognise from their F1 programme, no doubt spurred on by the wrath of Ron Dennis.
